What is Botox Cosmetic?
Botox Cosmetic is a prescription injection of purified botulinum toxin that reduces the appearance of frown lines and crow's feet by temporarily deactivating facial muscles.
Over time, the muscles that control certain facial expressions cause wrinkles to form. Botox injections paralyze the overactive muscles, subsequently softening those furrows.
What happens during a Botox treatment?
Before the treatment, Dr. Soini numbs the area with ice or topical anesthetic if requested. The treatment causes only mild, momentary discomfort, but numbing makes the needle prick even less painful.
